2020 is the year of sports. The year of the postponed Olympics. 100 years have passed since Estonia’s first Olympic gold. In the collection, Alexanderling presents sports-inspired clothing, combining fashion with sport- the cut is taken from the details of sportswear: ribbed ankles, collar and neck, and puff sleeves that offer freedom.
The creative process of the collection started in the spring, in the middle of the craziness, the lockdown of the corona pandemic. The completion of the sixteen sets was strongly driven by the forced change in people’s communication and movement habits and self-management. It seemed as if everyone had pulled themselves together, started to act and thus became a better person.
Alexanderling brings to the presentation a collection, each product of which gives the wearer the opportunity to focus on the comfort of movement. Zippers with subtle metal details on the front panel of jackets, lined lace dress blouses and free-falling dress-tie pants with pockets glorify sport as culture and (forward) movement. Timeless black tracksuit bottoms with military green tops arrive for wearers. Next to them, contrasting powder pink lace skirts make the fall-winter black collection covered with pastel splashes of color.
