“Faith, Hope, Love” Collection

Autumn/Winter 2019

ALEXANDERLING’s Fall 2019 collection is characterized not only by a line tracing the delicate, feminine waist, but also by a revolutionary collage in darker tones that take over. The aim is to fight the growing and increasingly cheap mass fashion with a domestically made collection. This message is supported by the hologram jacket, which has an insect-like sheen and nature-imitating materials. Shine is present in the glimmer of the earring, in strappy shoes with see-through laces, and in pleated skirts. And in between, swirling and pleated voluminous details in tartan patterns with a punkish style sizzle. These twisting pleated pleats are one of the most obvious examples of recycling and an exemplary practice of using fabric leftovers. Anu Ling’s approach is both elegant and relevant. The collection combines strong but narrow-shouldered trouser suits, whose flowing fabric draped from the shirred waistline informs the viewer: made in Estonia. Up close, the details are both classic and funky at the same time – this is no easy trick. Lots of double wool crepe with fuchsia edged inseams and elegantly high-shouldered viscose jersey dresses that evoke feminine drama as they drag across the stage.
