For Spring/Summer 2019, fashion designer Anu Ling has been thinking about what women want, modern femininity and how to curate these ideas in the collection.
’In Autumn, I had the opportunity to experience India in a more interesting way than usual. I traveled from town to town in northern India along the local roads, seeing Indian women in their daily activities and in various situations. This rich culture, where bright colors are a part of everyday life, was calmed down by the mountainous, sometimes muddy natural tones at the end of the rainy season,’ she says about the source of inspiration for the new collection. Many colors, different shades are represented. The palette is strong: orange and fuchsia with waxy colors: brown, dusty gray and pale beige. The texture is saturated with different silks – matched and mismatched together. The shoes are low and have a light silky sheen, with an open heel and a pointed toe. Inspired by the archives of the 70s, colors of gold beige, red and black are represented both literally and abstractly. Dresses have consistently celebrated natural femininity – ideas from their past and suggestions for the future. There are touches of sensuality, a pinch of the 70s. Yet it is all brought together in something that can be encapsulated and called the alphabet of modern femininity.
